Thank you all for your prayers.  We still don't know exactly what is going on.  They did an ultrasound of my dad's abdomen late yesterday.  Nothing overly worrisome there.  He did eat well today, so his sodium and potassium came back up.  He was dehydrated, so they have been giving him fluids via IV through his port.

The doctor we talked to today is thinking he may have gotten the flu, although he doesn't show any signs of it other than an on and off fever.  She had the nurses do a nose swab, and we should know tomorrow.  They are continuing the antibiotics that our family doctor started a week ago.

They are not sure yet if they are going to do an MRI scan of his abdomen or not.  I wish they would, just to rule out any tumors.  I suppose they would have shown up on the ultrasound, but it would make us all feel better.

He is cranky beyond belief, and not just because he is frustrated and tired.  He is purposely being like a defiant 2 year old child.  But we will get through it.  Just need to get him feeling better.

Thank you again.

  1. Hang in there, things are working out.

  2. I'm guessing your dad is scared beyond belief that the doctors are going to find more tumors somewhere else in his body. This is no excuse, of course, for his unkind treatment of all of you but his fear of possibly facing the end of his life (or what he thinks is possibly the end of it) is something he can't handle rationally. Maybe to make it through this difficult period, you need to handle him the same way you would that defiant two year old? So sorry you're having to go through this. Hugs.

  3. I again am living Jerry's cancer ,I think I exchanged with God to suffer the pain and illness ( I have the pains ,he has none )and even the crankiness your dad suffers from. Hope for the best for him Stephenie, and that you and mom get some rest too♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
